1. The country list
The directory uses the common 195-country list: the 193 United Nations member states, plus the Holy See and the State of Palestine. Vatican City is used as the familiar country name for the Holy See entry.
2. How picks are made
Each country gets one suggested food with a strong connection to its local food culture. The directory keeps the explanation brief and tells you how the dish is commonly served. A pick may be changed as research improves or readers point out a better fit.
3. What “best” means
“Best” is a point of view, not a measurable fact. Our pick is an editorial starting point; it cannot represent every region, community, family or personal preference. The site is independent and the food choices are not paid placements.
4. Corrections
